Whenever the Outlook App updates on iOS I expand the release notes hoping they finally added shared mailboxes (I've got several users who really need this). In the gap, if you really need to, you can still open up OWA on your mobile browser and gain access to shared mailboxes, though it doesn't stay signed in and doesn't integrate with your calendar/notifications/etc, so it is a stopgap at best (depending on what you are trying to do with the shared mailbox). Shared mailboxes is on the roadmap, but they haven't given any specific date beyond "will be available by the end of 2018". Thankfully though, they also announced at the same time that they are working on bringing parity to the Outlook app. They delisted it from App store, and if you still had it installed it would reject your ability to log into OWA with it.
However, MS didn't update the app for a long time, and earlier this year they officially retired the app back in May of this year. The OWA App was basically a customized web browser view containerized in an app, and once you logged in you could see anything that was available in OWA (including shared mailboxes). It used to be that the only official way to view shared mailboxes on iOS was using the "OWA App" (not to be confused with the Outlook app).
